Hello Operator
‘Hello Operator’ is a science fiction short film set in a clandestine call centre for time travellers. The film tells a quietly tense slice-of-life story told from the perspective of one of the operators at the centre, while also highlighting the absurdity of capitalism and modern workplace culture.

BMLC
Remember the monologue from the movie Gone Girl? The one that goes “Cool girl, men always use that don’t they as their defining compliment…” well it was a pretty big inspiration and just like the movie this song highlights the oversaturated and overused rhetoric used to bring women down and perpetuate sexist ideology. The type that has gone on for years and still continues. We hear it from men but it can come from anyone with internalised misogyny. I wanted this song to shove it in the face just how ridiculous this language is along with the thought processes behind it (or lack thereof) The lyric “Gonna fuck my way to make it, is that how you want to paint it?” is one example of this. I hope it provokes thought on that turn of phrase more from the case of a female music artist/ actor/ biz trying to “make it” where the opposite is actually true- by that i mean women have actually been f*cked out of ‘making it’ (figuratively and literally) due to ‘some men’ (a lot of men) in those industries misusing their power to break us down, scare us away and keep us from the top. So if you’ve been looking for a track to scream about all this crap ( that shouldn't still be a thing but is) to, then roll the windows down and pump up BMLC, if for no other reason than to drown out the Eminem and Diddy driving behind you.

The Whale
This is one of my few surviving animations from my Multimedia days. Most of my student era animations from the noughties are trapped on LS120 disks. This animation was made when I was a TAFE teacher at South West TAFE Victoria, during a one-day professional development animation workshop with animator David Jones at South West Victoria (Warrnambool Campus). Warrnambool was annually visited by Southern Right Whales. In times when they were late, early or they didn’t show up, tourists would get very annoyed. We used to joke about using a robot whale so the tourists wouldn’t be disappointed. The whale song sound was created in an echoing stairwell at the TAFE.

Reverie
Reverie is a reflection on time—both fleeting and expansive. Inspired by a quiet moment in my own backyard, this digital piece captures the sun rising over a field of golden grass, a pause of serenity amidst life's constant motion. It is an invitation to step into stillness, to notice the landscapes that surround us, and to embrace the quiet beauty woven into our days. This artwork unfolds in layers, each one a testament to the time and intention behind digital creation. In the video, the piece reveals itself gradually, mirroring the way these moments of reverie emerge in our lives—if we allow ourselves the space to experience them.

I aim to evoke the deeply sensual experience that can arise from the body’s connection to the living world. The video traces in slow motion a dance I had on a windy day at the Hardwicke Street Reserve in Launceston with a dangling piece of bark, trees and the sky.

HLA6
'HLA6' is a proof-of-concept art piece that has been developed for the last year. Liminal space is a fear that has followed me my whole life without realising, empty halls and echoing walls devoid of character. Utilising a 17 year old handycam, i've been chasing liminal spaces across Nipaluna, empty car parks, theatres, low-lit hallways etc. 'HLA6' refers to the treatment room at RHH Radiotherapy clinic, having undergone treatment earlier last year, the piece includes hospital footage and atmos. This proof of concept is a 2 minute example of a bigger piece I hope to produce for 'Artfully Queers' next exhibit, having collected over an hour of material so far.

It's a personal art piece that reveals my deep feelings of inadequacy, existential pessimism and overall depression. Despite my skills, despite my goodwill towards others, nothing will ever be enough. I am more than capable to soar throughout the galaxy, yet I'm bound to a planet that I've outgrown a million times over. Therefore, I'm too big for a planet, but too small for space.

Howrah
It's about trauma and CPTSD, and how we're tied to all these past moments and emotions, and can re-experience them so intensely, even if they happened years ago. The past and present merging and intertwining, bringing us to our knees as it overwhelms us. It's also about surrendering to the madness and moving outside of reality, as the dissociation kicks in to protect us from the horror. Yet somehow we keep going, and we keep trying to find those moments, people, places and comforts that help us to feel a little safer and more connected. Art is where I feel safe. The Nice Version:
Here we see three thick lads here to spread love, equality and push for sexual liberation. These three mega stars have been pushing for equality and the rights of the minority for the longest time, and I thought I would shine a light on their honorable acts and sex appeal.
The Not So Nice Version:
Content warning: Homophobia, people abusing power
One thing you may not know about these leaders is that they... wait for it... they are ARSES. I know! Shocking right? :o
Rump has opposed the equality act, opposed job protections for queer people and has destroyed medical protections for queer people to name a few rather dishonorable acts.
Fellow dictator Vladimir Juicin uses homophobia to tighten their control over Russia’s people with statements such as: “Do we really want kids in Russia to have Parent No. 1 and Parent No. 2? Have we lost our minds? Do we really want our kids to have it drilled into their heads that there are more genders than sexes? Do we really want our schools to hammer perversions into their heads that lead to degradation and extinction?”
And lovely Kim Thong Un has seen to it that homosexuality is a punishable offense, though unwritten in North Korean law.
My goal with these pieces is to promote a world of peace, union and understanding. A world where queer people hold positions of power, and love and commitment to a better world is the main goal of all.
Please let me know if you would like a print of any of these pieces and I can organise that for you.

My Pop Life
My Pop Life is a series of digital posters that share my experience of coming of age as a queer teenager in the late 1980s in Tasmania. This storytelling project presents a narrative framed by personal experiences and historical events including the gay law reform movement in Tasmania and the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. These pivotal events placed LGBTIQ+ issues at the forefront of local mainstream media and generated a hate-fueled public debate that had an undeniable effect on my development and self-acceptance as a young queer person. Using a remix methodology as a means for revisiting my past and referencing the work of queer artists who came before me, My Pop Life explores the effects of these events on my emerging queerness and reveals how the colourful world of popular culture offered a means of escape and validation. The result is a series of digitally produced posters that reference pop and political posters, magazines and advertising of the era that seek to blur the lines between private/public and reality/fantasy in order to highlight LGBTIQ+ history, culture and storytelling as tools to frame my experience of being a queer teenager and abuse survivor in Tasmania at a time when fear and shame seemed the only pathway to an uncertain future. Through these posters, I seek to explore difficult stories while also celebrating 1980s queer culture in all its glory.

The makers of audiozine "Queer Out Here", a celebration of queer experience in the outdoors, approached me a few years ago and asked to make a contribution to Issue 9. It was a good opportunity to get some of the things I had been wrestling with after making Franklin the documentary, as well as a chance to reconnect with the feelings of being on the river, outdoors, where diversity is at its richest, and therefore in some ways where we most belong. This piece contains a narrative recollection of my journey down river, and a collaged collection of sounds captured on that journey. Then drops the listener into the documentary trailer and its message of courage, of resistance - a message with ever more relevance every day - and also of hope and power.
